Modern Buddhist Altar OMOKAGE

・OMOKAGE, part of the "KAKEHASHI Series" of designer Buddhist altars, is an original Japanese Buddhist altar jointly produced by Asahikawa, Hokkaido, a city with a 100-year history of producing high-quality furniture, and Wakabayashi Buddhist Altar Manufacturing, a long-established Kyoto Buddhist altar store founded over 190 years ago.

We wanted to create a place of prayer where anyone, at any time, could join hands. With this in mind, we commissioned product designer Keita Shimizu to create the design. OMOKAGE, created by Keita, who creates products that "care about people," has a gentle attention to detail that can be felt everywhere.

The simple, uncluttered design blends seamlessly with a variety of interiors without compromising the atmosphere of your room. This wall-mounted Buddhist altar can be placed anywhere you like, whether in the living room, dining room, bedroom, or workspace.

The LED lighting inside the altar uses strip lights to evenly illuminate the interior. The warm, soft light envelops the principal image, memorial tablet, and photographs of the deceased.

OMOKAG is designed with size in mind, so you can place it on your favorite furniture without worrying about size. Its vertical silhouette allows you to place your existing Buddhist statues and memorial tablets. The width allows you to store the door to the side, so it can be placed in a corner or next to other furniture. Its shallow depth of 25.7 cm also allows it to be easily placed on a sideboard or chest.

・For those who want a small Buddhist altar but don't want to leave incense and candles out, OMOKAGE comes with a drawer. In addition to everyday items, you can also store keepsakes like prayer beads and photos. It also comes with a drawer-style tray where you can place Buddhist altar accessories, so you can safely use it when using fire, such as when offering incense.

The back panel is available in five colors. The fabric used is the "NC Series," which is also used in luxury sofas.

・OMOKAGE is made by highly skilled artisans who specialize in custom furniture. With carefully chamfered corners and even polishing to ensure no distortion, our Buddhist altars are perfect for anyone, from children to the elderly, to pray to with peace of mind. Furthermore, we only use materials that have earned the highest F-Four Star certification, a measure against sick house syndrome under the Building Standards Act.
